Ophthalmology
Our Consultant Ophthalmologists are on hand to cover all aspects of eye care from specific eye tests through to the treatment of glaucoma and degenerative diseases.
The Diagnostic Centre is supported by the Wellington Hospital's Ophthalmology Surgical Unit which is equipped with the latest in ophthalmic technology. Surgical treatment is now often quick, simple and painless, allowing many patients to return home on the same day. The unit is able to treat patients with common eye conditions such as cataracts through to major vitreo-retinal surgery, more recently the unit is able to offer lens implant for "Dry" Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) .
